M & M twins Baptism/ Christmas Party

Well, since I am truly the world's worst blogger, and I am 3 month's behind on my posts, there is no use trying to go back and play catch up. Needless to say, we had a very busy fall, and survived are crazy schedule with Seth in tackle football, Matt's flag football, and soccer, Megan's soccer, and Sadie's dance class. The kids all did very well, and are developing their many talents and abilities. As the mom, it's a little crazy getting them to all their practices and games and juggling games if they were at the same time. We had a great Thanksgiving on my side of the family this year, and ate way to much food as always!!! Rich started a new tradition with our boys, something he did with his brothers and Dad when he was a kid. They played flag football with some other dad's, friends, and cousins, in the morning time and had a ball!!! My boys are becoming quite the football fanatics this year, with their favorite teams being BYU and San Francisco 49ers, I wonder who they get that from!!!
It was Matt and Megan's magical 8th birthday this year, and to kick off the month of December they were baptized on Saturday December 5th. It was a very busy and special day. To start off we had a Christmas party on Rich's side of the family, with Mom and John combining both of their families together for a big party! We ate good food, listened to my nieces perform Christmas songs, and then had a grand entrance from you know who SANTA CLAUS!!! All the kids were super excited to sit on Santa's lap, all except for Bailee she wanted nothing to do with him, and she just cried when we put her on his lap!! She is quite the character!!!
After the Christmas party, we came home and got ready for Matt and Megan's baptism. It's a little crazy getting everyone ready, and making sure I have extra dry items for after the baptism. As we were sitting in the chapel waiting for the baptism service to start, Rich comes and tells me that he forgot an extra pair of garments to wear for after the baptism. Nice timing Rich! ha ha Luckily, his brother Rob came back to our house and grabbed an extra pair of garmentsfor him. It was a special experience to watch two of my kids enter the waters of baptism together on the same day. I think it has been over 100 years since we have had any twins on either sides of our families, so this was an extra neat occasion. We had great family and friend support, and Matt and Megan were so excited to follow their Savior, and be baptized and confirmed members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We had another get together following the baptism at my parents home, and ate more yummy food and dessert. Thanks to my Mom and sisters for the soups they made, and their help in putting this dinner together. You are Awesome!!! Matt and Megan were so brave on Sunday that they got up all by themselves and bore their testimony's. They did such a wonderful job! I am so proud of them, and the smart, talented, great kids they are. Although, having twins is double the work, it has also been double the JOY!!!! I am so grateful for all the blessings that the Lord has blessed me with, especially for the beautiful children he has given me the opportunity to raise. I'm grateful for this time of year, and for the opportunity to reflect a little more intently on all that the Savior has personally done for me! I love you all, and hope that you are enjoying this special time of year with your families. I hope to be a little bit better about blogging more frequently this coming year!

Merry Christmas!!!!

BAILEE TURNS ONE TODAY!!!

Well, today is the day our little Bailee Jean is celebrating her first birthday. In some ways it's hard to believe that she is already one year's old, and in other ways this year has been a long one!! It's a good thing that Bailee is # 5 baby, and I knew she would be our last, because she has been my most difficult baby yet. We are hoping that this coming year she will develop a new personality, and learn to be more content and happy! She is such a cutie, but boy is she sassy, tempermental, stubborn, and very impaitent, and a screamer!! Needless to say, shopping, church, anywhere public is a chore with her, and can be very embarassing sometimes. Because Bailee's birthday landed by Labor Day weekend, we had a get together at my parent's house for her, we went swimming first, and then had pizza and cupcakes afterwards. Boy! did Bailee love her cupcakes, let's just say she ate at least 2 before I could pry her away from the table. She loved her presents and would scream at Sadie if she would take her toys. Sadie better watch out, as Bailee gets older, she might just know how to pick on her even more. Happy Birthday Bailee girl, We Love You!!!

Anyways, since I am truly a slacker blogger, I thought I would let you all know how Seth's Hershey's trackmeet went. He had a great time, and his relay team took 3rd place in the nation. His relay team represented region 2 which included our state, California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, and Colorado. It was a pretty amazing trackmeet, they truly treat it like the Olympics. Gold Medalist Carl Lewis put Seth's medal around his neck, it was really Awesome!!! We are really proud of Seth. It was a quick trip over there, but I'm glad Rich and I got to go. Pennsylvania is a pretty state, very green. We enjoyed touring the Hershey's choclate factory, and see how all the hershey choclate is made and packaged. We went to Hershey park, a big amusement park with crazy roller coasters that Rich made me go on. I used to love to do that, but man I'm getting old, and can't handle the crazy rides as well anymore. The town Hershey has it's street lights as Hershey kisses, it was kind of a neat place.

Well, the kids have been back to school now for a few weeks. Seth is in 5th grade this year, and is doing tackle football for the first time. His first game is Saturday, I'm a little nervous having him play tackle, but he is loving it! Matt and Megan are in 2nd grade and are both doing Soccer this fall, as well as Matt is going to play flag football, and Rich is going to be his coach, he is excited about that. Sadie is in pre-school this year and is doing a dance class, which she loves. She is all girl, and loves dancing! Bailee will continue to be our busy, sassy one year old! The Rodgers crew is a lively, busy bunch, and there isn't much time for a dull moment around here.

It's about time for another post!!!

Well needless to say I have been a slacker blogger at best. Alot has happened since my last post, and it's hard to believe that we only have one month of summer left before school starts up again. The Rodgers crew has been pretty busy since school got out. Seth, Matt, and Megan had baseball games until about the second week of June, and then we had trackmeets everyweekend for the rest of June for Seth. For those of you who I haven't talked to in awhile, Seth ran the 50m and 100m at district, and fell on his 50m, but took 2nd place in the 100m losing a close race by 100th's of a second. He decided to try out for the county relay team for region and state. He had to compete against about 18 boys in his age group all of them top runners from district. He made their A team with 3 other boys from local schools in our area and who he raced against in the 100m at district. They are all really fast runners! We went to Richfield for the region meet where Seth was to run the 100m and the 4x100 relay with his team. He unfortunately, got disqualified for false starting on the 100m individual race. He was devastated, and it was heart breaking for Rich and I as well. His relay team won at region and then went on to win again convincingly at the state trackmeet. We also let him run in the Utah Summer Games for the first time, he ran the 100m and 200m and won a bronze medal in both of his races. My nephew Josh also raced and did really good as well, coming in 4th and 5th in his races. It was fun for the both of them! We just got a phone call the other day telling us that Seth's relay team will be going to Pennsylvania for the National Hershey Trackmeet at the end of this month. Their team had to beat the best relay times from all the Western States to be qualified to go to Hershey's and they did it! Seth is way excited about it, but because they don't allow parents to travel or stay with the athletes, I am a bit nervous to send Seth my 10 year old back to Pennsylvania by himself without mom and dad and with chaperones I haven't met before. Rich and I are planning to fly out and be part of the events for Seth, we just will get limited time with him while we are over there. It will be interesting to see how it all goes. Other exciting news that I hadn't posted about yet, was Rich's mom got remarried to a wonderful guy named John Rich. They got married on June 12. We are really happy for her. It's kind of funny his last name is Rich, and the kids have to get used to not calling her Grandma Rodgers anymore, but Grandma Gloria works good too. Mom and John both love their eternal companions dearly, but until they are reunited with them on the other side, it is comforting to know that mom and John can enjoy companionship together in this life. Welcome to the family John we love you!!! I hope all of you are enjoying your summer in the Hot Hot weather. We have been to my parents cabin quite a bit already this summer, and we also set up our big swimming pool in the backyard, the kids are swimming everyday to cool off from this heat. I will have to post some pics of our cabin and swimming days on another post. TA TA for now!

Seth, Matt, Megan, and Sadie dressed up for Grandma's wedding day. We left Bailee home with my mom she is too noisy of a baby!

Steve, Rich, Paul, Rob, and Travis a crazy bunch of guys!!!

Introducing John and Gloria Rich what a darling couple!!

Out of 28 grandchildren on the Rodgers side only 11 of them are boys, but Seth and Matt were the only 2 grandsons that attended the wedding, Boy are they outnumbered!!!

Seth celebrating his 10th birthday. Our little man is growing up!!!

Well, I guess it's about time that I wrote a post on my blog. Needless to say, things have been a little bit crazy since our fire occurred. We moved back home April 1st, and despite dealing with our difficult insurance company, we are very happy to be back home! Although, we have been back home for a month now, I still have a few boxes to still go through and get some things organized, but things have been a little busy. The month of March brought Spring Break and Seth's birthday. He is now 10 years old, which is hard to believe. He is growing up so fast. He is now in the Webleos Scout den, and playing baseball. He had to try out this year to play on a 10,11,12 year old league. He made the upper league where they only pick about 30 ten year olds out of about 130 boys trying out in that age group. He is adjusting to the more intense league, but as a ten year old doesn't get much playing time in a game, and as a parent Iwonder if the other league would have been more beneficial for him, however Seth is learning how to hit off of 12 year olds pitching the ball fast, and is getting more confidence as the season goes on. April, brought moving back home, Easter, Kite Festival, Pinewood derby for Seth, Field day's, and Baseball Baseball Baseball! Seth's school had there track and field day and he took 1st place in the final for the 50 meter dash, and barely lost in the 100 meter dash final taking second place, his relay team also took first place for his age division 9-10 year olds. He will be racing in the district trackmeet this weekend, so we will see how he does.
Matt and Megan's field day was on Friday, they had a fun time and they both ran in the final race for the kids in their grade, they did good; however, they don't quite have the speedy gift of speed as Seth does, but are still pretty above average. Megan took second place in the soft ball throw for the girls in her grade, so she was excited about that. Seth, Matt, and Megan are all in baseball right now and between the 3 of them we have 5 to 6 games a week, plus practices. Baseball season will last until mid June. It's pretty busy! Sadie is being a busy 3 year old and loves to play with friends and cousins as much as possible. Bailee turns 8 months old on the 9th of May. She is a very chubby baby she already weighs 21 pounds.! She is sitting up on her own now, and is getting up on her hands and knees and tries to scoot, but isn't crawling yet. She is a fun baby, but boy does she have a mind of her own and a temper to say the least! She thinks she needs her mom's undivided attention all the time. This can make it difficult, especially when I have 4 other kids that need my help and let's not bring up time for cooking, cleaning, ect...It's hard to believe that school will be out in 3 weeks, and all 5 kids will be home for the next 3 months. I have got to decide on how to make this an enjoyable summer for all of us, or else I will go crazy! I hope all of you and your families are doing well, and enjoying the end of spring weather before the real HOT HOT HOT summer begins!

Trial by Fire!!!

As most of you know Rich and I bought an older home in July of 2007, we have spent the last 18 months remodeling it. It has been a time consuming and hard process, especially with 5 kids in the midst of our remodeling. Anyways, Rich started remodeling our masterbedroom and bathroom the first part of January, it was another crazy project to live through. On Friday January 23, Rich and his Uncle Vince laid brand new carpet in our bedroom and walk in closet, and Rich and brother n law Steve started hanging up new light fixtures, about 4:30 we left to do some shopping and go to dinner. We were both excited that our bedroom was about finished, and we were almost finished with the remodeling of the inside of our home. We got home about 9:15 that evening, as I was getting Bailee out of the car Rich went to let the other kids into our home. The unexpected was happening. He opened the front door and realized our house was full of smoke. Our home was on Fire and we didn't know where it was coming from! Dan my brother n law rushed over and I took the kids to my parents home. The fire was coming from our attic! Rich called 911 and the fire department showed up. They had to tear through our bedroom ceiling to get to the fire, it hadn't spread to other parts of the house yet. The wood trusses and insulation was on fire in the attic. The fire department was there until after midnight. I couldn't believe this was really happening! All the work and hours spent on our home changed in an instant. Needless to say, the last 2 weeks have been exhausting in every since of the word! The fire investigator said the old wiring in the attic had worn through and possibly a rodent or something chewed through some of the wiring, and so when Rich pulled down on the wires to put up a new ceiling fan it could have arked or sparked and slowly caught fire. He said it was no fault of Rich's just a weird thing because of the wires. We were both surprised when the attic was opened up, how many other things were wrong up there and electrically not to code. I know Rich was relieved to know he didn't cause the fire. It has been an emotionally draining process, but Rich and I are very grateful that we were all safe and unharmed. We are also so grateful for wonderful family and friends and your generous support, help, prayers, and love. Thank you so very much! Thanks to my sisters, mom, and Grandma who spent hours helping at the laundromat washing, drying, folding, ironing, all the clothing and bedding in our home, this was a huge undertaking, and we are happy that our smoke smelling clothes actually came out clean and not ruined. Thanks to my parents for letting us turn their house upside down for a week, until we got in our rental home, and dealing with Matt, Megan, Sadie, and Bailee all getting sick that week as well. Thanks to my attorney brother Kris who helped us get our insurance company on the right track, and to get the ball rolling! We appreciate the gift cards and money, and thoughtful cards, e-mails, and phone calls that were sent to us, that was so awfully generous of you at not expected at all! We love our awesome family and friends!!! Anyways, we finally got into a rental home just up the street from our home, so it doesn't change the kids surroundings to much. We have a beautiful view to Pine Valley mountain and surrounding beauty. I have spent this past week trying to unpack clothing and stuff we brought here, and go grocery shopping, so we can have some food in this house. I also went to my home and had to throw a lot of stuff away because of the bad smoke damage. The company contracted to fix our home took the remainder of the furniture and other items out of our home on Tuesday. They are going to clean and evaluate each item. Their crew also has taken all of the insulation out of our attic, and put new insulation in, the kind that won't catch fire, and they have fixed electrical problems as well in there. They took the ceiling out in our family room/ movie room down stairs because of water damage, and they have gutted our materbedroom taking carpet, sheet rock and insualtion from the walls. It still smells like smoke pretty bad in our home still, it will be interesting to see how far they will have to go to get the smell out. Right now their plan is to fix everything structurally from the fire, and redo our masterbedroom, and put new insulation and ceiling downstairs, and then clean and ozone everything in our home, at that point if it still smells like smoke, their next step will be to paint the inside of the home again, so I guess we will find out. They think they will be finished and we have a scheduled move back date as March 31st, so will see how it goes. I posted some pics of the fire damage and what they started on last week, but I kind of posted them out of order,so you will see the last pics I took first. This has been a literal "Trial by FIRE", and one I won't soon forget, it's been hard going through this process, but I realized that I can't change the situation, so I guess I better change my attitude! I have a lot to learn, with many weaknesses, and I am grateful for a patient and loving Father in Heaven whom I can turn to in prayer, and for a Savior who suffered all things that through him, I can repent, and find peace and understanding. Thanks again family and friends, we love you all!!!!
